School Life We have a full and rich school life at St Andrew’s Christian School with many wonderful events happening within our school community.
Carnivals Every year our students participate in athletics, cross-country and swimming carnivals with students who qualify being given the opportunity to progress to zone and then state levels. The most wonderful aspect of our carnivals is the sense of community that exists as Kindergarten through to Year 12 students spend the day together encouraging each other and having fun.
Special Projects Every year there are always special events and projects that our students have the opportunity of being involved in.
Languages Day In 2008 our Year 7 Students hosted and participated in a combined Languages Day with other local schools. After a welcome speech by the Mayor of the Clarence Valley, Ian Tiley, students from all three schools performed short plays and songs in their target language, and also had the opportunity of sampling French and German food for morning tea and lunch. Vintage Car Restoration This year, the year 9 and 10 Automotive class have been working enthusiastically with Mr Jack Ussher in restoring a vintage car and servicing the school’s tractor. The students have thoroughly enjoyed this hands on experience
10th Anniversary Official guests, students, staff and parents gathered at St Andrew's Christian School at Clarenza on Tuesday August the 5th 2008 to celebrate the school’s 10th anniversary. The assembly was run by School Captains Lisa Butcher and Mathew Cochran. A highlight of the day was the official opening by the Member for Page, Janelle Saffin, of the school’s security facilities and new multi sports courts, named The John Wood Memorial Courts, in memory of one of the school’s founders. Other guests included Board Chairman Jeof Falls and Presbyterian Church of Australia in NSW Moderator Bruce Meller. Morning tea was served by the students at the end of the official ceremony, providing parents with the opportunity to meet the guests, followed by a music program, primary school activities, language displays, technology and art displays and a BBQ lunch. Principal Mac Lindsay, said the day had been a memorable one. “St Andrew’s was the first Kindergarten to Year 12 in the Clarence Valley”, he said. “We are very proud of our school and delighted to see the official opening of our long awaited multi sports courts, which will serve the students for many years to come.” “The school is very active in the sporting arena, with students participating in a wide range of sporting activities. Our students have achieved championship level in basketball, touch football and swimming.” “Our school has come a long way with these new facilities. The courts can be used for all students from kindergarten through to Year 12 on a daily basis, enabling the children to take a more active role in sporting culture.” Mr. Lindsay said the 10th birthday milestone was a true showing of the need for Christian Education in the Clarence Valley.
